Planning, the subtle art of mapping your journey to the final destination.
Did you know that most business owners do not know where they want to be in 5 years?
If they have no idea of where they’re going, how will they know how to get there. And worse still, if they have no idea where they are going, how will they know they’ve got there.
Pretty incredible really, isn’t it?
The power of goals
Most people work extremely hard on and in their business, as humans we are NOT inherently lazy. However, most people will work hard without focus. Concentrating on multiple things at once and being dragged along different thought paths regularly means you are not working towards anything with any real direction.
The first thing you need to do is set a goal. We often see people set goals which is fantastic! But people will often waiver and change their goals quickly leading to uncertainty. You must set a goal and you must stick to working towards that goal.
Why?
They key to setting a good goal is having enough reasons to really wanting it. It is the reasons that will pull you towards your goal. So, ask yourself, why do I want this? If you can give yourself enough reasons as to why you want something you will naturally be pushed closer to achieving that goal.
What next?
So, you have set your goal, and most importantly you know why you want that goal. Everything you do now is working to this goal. You might make small steps daily or weekly or you may make a huge leap. No matter how big or small the step, every action will then get you closer to where you want to be. It does not matter if your goal is smaller and you want to achieve it in the next 90 days or it’s a huge goal like you want to be a billionaire, as long as you are taking conscious steps to get you there you WILL get there.
Think BIG.
Most people set realistic goals. Goals that are easily achieved with the thought process of “I’ll be disappointed if I don’t achieve this”. Ask yourself a question, what would be better, being disappointed that you didn’t hit a goal, but you came close or being disappointed that you did hit that goal because you didn’t push yourself and set the goal too small?
Which would you prefer?
Set Steve Jobs goals. Warren Buffet goals or even Jeff Bezos goals. Think BIG! Your goals MUST stretch you. They MUST transform you and above all they MUST take courage to achieve them.
Now you need to go and set a goal, understand why you’re setting it and get working towards it today!
